Experience gives you fine-grained control over your privacy. Here's how to configure every setting.
Accessing Privacy Settings
- Click Settings in the navigation menu.
- Select Privacy or Privacy Settings.
Available Privacy Controls
Profile Visibility
- Public — Anyone can view your profile and public posts.
- Private — Only approved followers can see your posts and content.
Online Status
- Show Online Status — When enabled, other users can see when you're currently online.
- Turn this off if you prefer to browse privately without others knowing you're active.
Messaging Permissions
- Allow Messages From Others — Toggle whether other users can send you direct messages.
- When disabled, only users you've previously messaged can continue the conversation.
Read Receipts
- Show Message Read Receipts — When enabled, senders can see when you've read their messages.
- Turn this off to read messages without the sender knowing.
Tagging & Mentions
- Allow Tagging in Posts — Control whether other users can tag you in their posts.
- Allow Mentions — Control whether other users can mention you (@yourname) in posts and comments.
Profile Stats Visibility
- Show Follower Count — Display or hide your follower count on your profile.
- Show Post Count — Display or hide the number of posts on your profile.
- Show Subscription Count — Display or hide your subscriber count (for creators).
Recommendations
For maximum privacy:
- Set your profile to Private.
- Disable Online Status.
- Disable Read Receipts.
- Disable tagging and mentions.
For a social experience:
- Keep your profile Public.
- Enable Online Status to show availability.
- Keep Read Receipts on for better communication.
